FAQ

Answers to some of the common questions we receive at Considerate K9.

  • What do you use to reinforce and reward correct behavior?

We use a methodoloy of praise words like "yes" followed by a valued treat. Repetition and consistency of this format is key to instilling the motivation for the dog to continue correct behavior patterns.

  • What is your training philosophy?

I have extensively studied trainers such as Robert Cabral, Ed Frawley of Leerburg Academy, and Sean O'Shea from The Good Dog Training and Rehabilitation. I spent countless hours taking their online courses and watched hundreds of hours of their free video content. Now, with many years of professional dog training under my belt, I have seen and experienced all sorts of challenging behaviors and have been able to hone my skills and confidence with each new dog I take on. We aim to teach you how to set realistic obedience expectations and goals for your K9. We also teach your dog these skills. By focusing on teaching the human and their K9 companion, we reduce the learning barriers between the species. This creates a healthy, harmonious and symbiotic relationship founded on fairness and understanding.

  • What training methods do you use?

Once we fully assess your situation, we will help you determine what level of dog obedience training is necessary for you and your pet. These goals can include basic obedience commands like sit, stay, down, come, heel, look and leave it. Other goals can include confidence building, environmental desensitization and fear reduction. We can say with confidence we will return your dog to you as an obedient and well behaved companion!

  • Do you offer boarding only?

At this time we offer a board and train package, but are not focused on being a boarding kennel in particular. It is something we are considering for the future of our business.
